Meet out members: Muscle Animations

Muscle Animations provides state-of-the-art 3D animation-based educational material on strength training exercises. We caught up with, Tron Krosshaug, CEO and an associate professor at the Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center and the Department of Sports Medicine at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, to talk about his company, challenges and global ambitions to collaborate with big players of the international fitness educational industry.

Can you describe briefly what Muscle Animations do?
We produce state-of-the-art 3D animation-based educational material on strength training exercises. This includes detailed instructions on lifting technique, biomechanics and muscle usage.

How does your product work?
Our 3D animations will provide intuitive understanding on execution of various exercises. Furthermore, they will show how forces and moment arms explain muscle usage in different variations of exercises. The animations are distributed through apps or other customized digital delivery forms.

What do you want to change?
Our aim is to increase the understanding of strength training exercises on all levels, from novices to professionals.

Why did you choose edtech?
With our background from research and lecturing, we saw the need for improved understanding and tools to make learning easy and fun.

What do you see are the biggest challenges in this market?
For a small company, delivering state-of-the-art products, a main challenge is effective marketing.

What is your next big steps or ambitions?
We aim to continue to improve Norwegian higher education institutions (within sports, physiotherapy, personal training) as well as Norwegian sports federations. Furthermore, we hope to start collaboration with one or more of the big players in the international fitness educational industry.

In what way has being a member of Oslo Edtech Cluster made a difference for you?
We are happy to be part of the cluster, and to gain knowledge and inspiration. The cluster has among several other things assisted us getting funding from the Norwegian Research Council and Innovation Norway.

How many employees do you have?
2 employees, so far. More to come.

Which stage do you say your company is at? Growth? Well established?
Growth.
